Veovo has been selected to deliver a passenger flow management solution at Toronto Pearson, combining lidar sensors with the company’s Passenger Predictability solution.
The system will give Canada’s busiest airport real-time visibility of passenger movement through key security and border control processing areas. By combining lidar sensors with analytics, the airport will gain insight into wait times, queue lengths, passenger throughput, processing performance and service levels.
Veovo says its lidar sensors capture movement data and can distinguish between passengers, staff, children and objects. The company’s analytics then interpret the data to understand movement across the wider space, automatically adapting to shifting queue configurations and removing the need for ongoing manual adjustment.
Brian Tossan, chief technology officer at Toronto Pearson, said, “As passenger volumes continue to grow, having a clear, real-time understanding of how people move through the airport is essential. Veovo’s sensor-agnostic passenger intelligence platform provides real-time and predictive insights that help us better understand and manage passenger flow.”
Tossan said the technology is the next layer in the airport’s technology stack as it advances Pearson LIFT – the airport’s long-term plan to modernize and grow Canada’s largest airport.
James Williamson, chief executive officer of Veovo, said, “The immediate benefits come through better visibility and faster decision-making on the ground. Longer term, this creates the foundation for broader end-to-end passenger journey intelligence across the airport.”
Veovo says its Passenger Predictability solution is deployed at more than 90 airports worldwide. It combines real-time operational visibility with historical analysis, predictive insights and open integration capabilities, so airports can bring passenger movement data together with other operational systems.
