Scottish rental company Nu-Hire purchased three Oil & steel Octoplus spider lifts at ScotPlant in Edinburgh last week – one 21 metre Octoplus 21 and two 17 metre Octoplus 17’s from UK dealer Hird.

The Octoplus 21 features a three section telescopic boom with a maximum working height of 20.7 metres and a maximum outreach of 10.6 metres with 200kg in the platform, or nine metres with its maximum platform capacity of 250kg. The unit has a total stowed width of 780mm, a height of 1.99 metres and an overall length of 4.97 metres. Overall weight is 2,850kg.


The Octoplus 17 employs a dual sigma type riser, two section telescopic boom and articulating jib. Maximum working height is a full 17 metres with up to 7.6 metres of outreach at an up & over height of almost eight metres, with the 250kg unrestricted platform capacity. Overall width is 735mm extending to 1.1 metres, with an overall length of 4.6 metres – 3.9 metres with basket removed. Overall height is just under two metres, and total weight is 2,330kg.


Based in Livingston, south west of Edinburgh and established in 2020, Nu-Hire claims to run the largest fleet of Oil & Steel units in the country.
