Brussels Airport saw its cargo volumes continue to improve in April, led by increases in the full-freighter segment.
The Belgian airport saw cargo volumes reach 73,964 tonnes in April, an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2025.
In a press release, the airport said that the increase was fuelled, in particular, by growth in express services (1.9%) and especially in the full freighter segment (23.5%), “notably due to increased volumes to Asia”.
However, it wasn’t all good news for Brussels – cargo carried on passenger flights declined by 8%, mainly due to cancelled flights to the Middle East.
In contrast, trucked volumes increased by 5.2%.
“The main import regions are Asia and North America, both showing strong growth, as well as Africa,” the airport said in a press release.
“These same regions also represent the main export markets, with further growth recorded in North America and Africa.”
The increase in demand in April mirrors performance for most of the year, with the airport having reported cargo volume improvements of 6.4% over the first three months of the year.
The increases registered in the first quarter were led by extra integrator volumes, which improved by more than 9% compared with a year earlier.
