The adventure experts at EYOS Expeditions have curated a new journey that combines a deep-water expedition with all the extraordinary wonders of Alaska’s wilderness. And you’ll find out just how remote the Land of the Midnight Sun can be, thanks to a complete buy-out of a chalet perched at 6,000 feet in the mountainous Denali National Park—located in a spot only accessible by helicopter.
The five-bedroom lodge, known as Sheldon Chalet, is the definition of remote. Found just 10 miles from Denali’s summit on a ridge (or nunatak), the locale gives you an unmatched view of the mountain beyond to take on your three- or four-day full buyout. Head out into the wild on foot and by glacier to discover the Don Sheldon Amphitheater, a region named for the trailblazing 20th-century aviator. Activities can include just about every jaunt one would expect in this glorious slice of nature—crevasse rappelling, rock/ice climbing, skiing, oh my!—and culminate in dinners at the chalet made from locally sourced Alaskan ingredients.

As you travel from the summit to the sea, you’ll board the Hanse Explorer, a 157-foot expedition superyacht that will act as your private home base. The vessel offers up seven staterooms, including an owner’s cabin with a secluded outdoor space, and a crew of 15. An expansive aft deck, meanwhile, lets you take in all the wonders on the water. To warm up after a day at sea, head to the Jacuzzi or sauna onboard, then enjoy a dinner in the spacious dining room. Speaking of those icy waters, Hanse Explorer is made to cut through them safely; it also can traverse narrow fjords and more spots that a typical vessel can’t reach. For your own exploring, you can head out on Zodiac tenders and two-person inflatable kayaks, or go headfirst into the sea itself thanks to the Nitrox dive center or a bit of snorkeling.

And there’s plenty to seek out in Alaska’s various climes, all of which are options to be discovered on this journey. The Inian Islands, for starters, are one of the most biologically rich places on Earth, with Steller sea lions and bald eagles roaming about. Hoonah and Icy Strait act as a hub for humpback whales, too. For more remote beauty, the islands of Admiralty, Baranof, and Chichagof give you the chance to indulge in natural hot springs—along with all the fjords, glaciers, and waterfalls in between.
